Capoeira

Margaret and I drove into Las Cruces today to watch the group, Capoeira Quinto Sol
perform at noon in the old downtown mall.  It's a great free show.




Capoeira is an Afro-Brasilian performance art that combines music, martial arts and dance.
It always looks like great fun, and makes me wish I could shed thirty years and join in.

This group of pictures really doesn't do justice to their athleticism.  I tried a few mid-air upsidedown shots, but always seemed to end up with half a body at best.  In addition to the physical challenges, they have all learned to sing in very nice Portuguese.  All togehter, a pretty inspiring bunch.

Great to have a willing showpiece like these dancers around, but I think the singers and musicians interest me more than the aerial displays.
