Shame on me, I forgot that long ago I offered to show some Minox prints done by my local 1-hour. Here they are:

They are not going to set the wolrd on fire, but very useful as proof prints at least

How did you get them to do the prints?

When did you come in Paris in front of the Beaubourg/Pompidou center ?

I must add that this place was very popular in the 1980's when photography became "in" for a while. You must have seen a famous street character, Mouna Aguigui, speaking to the crowd just next to the building.

Well, I am a regular client, and simply went there with a developed roll and asked nicely if they could do something about these tiny negatives. They scratched their heads, conferenced, and told me to come back in an hour. They tell me they use pieces of paper to "fool" the minilab, whatever that means. Doing that ever since

Nicolas, I used to visit Paris at least once a year, normally with a good excuse, but not in the past two years. My sister lives there, and before her, a brother also lived in Paris. If I remember right, those pics are from june 2003, and the excuse was the Marché de la Poésie and the printing by Indigo of my first book. Tell you the truth, divorce left me no money for overseas travel!

I'm not living in Paris, but next time you come and visit your sister, just whistle. We will meet ! France is a small country.

I have been working not so far away from Beaubourg for a year (1996-1997).

Great

I just started shooting 16mm and what cracks me up Is I got 5 new Cassetts for my camera and all of them were loaded with differant perferated film. I don't worry about the film I put in it too much since I found they all work. I now look for Movie film so I don't have to split and there is alot of 16mm film both single and double berfed out there for real cheap in 50 and 100 foot rolls I got a roll of Double X 100 feet for 5 bucks that will be fun.

Larry, the only thing you *really* have to watch with using movie film in a Minolta 16 or similar is not to get a color film with remjet coating -- you'll have a really hard time finding any place that will process that.

For B&W, though, I've been using microfilm (Copex Rapid and Imagelink HQ) for a couple years; I think I finally got it figured out; I just started using offcuts left from reducing 120 to 127 or 828, and I just loaded a cassette with a sample of Plus-X Negative movie film -- we'll see what I get with that.

However, the Speed Graphic is grabbing all my attention at the moment... Wink

I only use B&W in it for now and I thought about that part but you can see that backing on the film. It is nasty I used to use Seatle Film Works Film and Screwed up a whole bunch of filme and the guy in Turkey that had the Mini Lab was so pissed he cursed even the children My Great Grand Children may have. LOL I even got a spool that will go down to 16mm from a friend recently for the price of postage.

I am waiting for this little Minilab to go out of business and then get the machine in Bankruptcy. but untill then it is my experements are all in small tanks.

Larry, if you're interested in a minilab, there's one up on APUG classifieds right now for $200 and the hauling, local only, but he didn't say where it was -- needs a 220 outlet, but no plumbing, has a minor leak in one of the replenishment tanks (but it's okay if you only fill it halfway), and weighs, he said, about 400 lbs -- you'll need a pickup, full-size van, or larger to haul it, I'd expect.

I've got a couple 16 mm stainless spools, two will just barely fit in a 35 mm tank, but I've only tried them once.  The Copex Rapid I have is on an extremely thin base, and won't stay on those reels, but I'll try 'em again when I finish the current roll of .EDU Ultra 100, an offcut from making 120 into 127; that roll, at 32 inches, is about 6-8 inches too long to fit my ABS pipe tank (which uses only 2 ounces of developer).  I've also got the 16 mm reel adapter that came with my Kiev, but it only fits the Russian tank that I've never seen -- there must be thousands of these adapters in this country by now, they came with Narciss as well as Kiev subminis, but I doubt there are two dozen of the tanks they fit...  Tongue

Speaking of 127, the hand recut film varies a half mm or so in width, and doesn't always play nice with my Paterson and Universal plastic reels -- anyone got a 127 size stainless reel you'll never use again?
