HU: Ebay scam

I guess this is the best place to put this?? I was bidding on a canon 100-400 from a known source on Ebay (Shutterblade). I've used them before and they have been great. I didn't win the auction but later received a second chance offer via email. It was perfectly formed with an Ebay email address and everything. The problem was the email address to contact the seller wasn't Shutterblades so I thought something was up. I gave Shutterblade a call and sure enough they said they have been having a problem with someone doing this after their auctions complete. He said they don't use paypal and try to get people to buy the product at their highest bid that lost with a money order. If they get 5% of the people to do this they are scamming fortunes off of people.

If you haven't already, you should also forward the e-mail, with complete headers, to spoof@ebay.com -- they're the ones who initiate investigations, up to and including criminal and civil legal action against those they can identify.  If nothing else, it'll help them decide whether the "second chance" program is worth keeping or if it should be very publicly canned to cut down on scamming.
