Went to town this morning.  Carried my Olympus 35S.  A really nice smallish RF with a good lens.  This is the smoothest operating camera I've ever owned, bar none.  Nothing I've had or used from any maker, Agfa to Zeiss and everything in between, is as slick as this old Oly.  It's the only camera I have that gives me consistantly sharp(ish) photos at 1/25 and even 1/10.

First stop was the barber shop.  Again.  I've taken quite a few shots here.

Looks like Orville is about to get throttled.

Everyone seems to read something while waiting

After my haircut I walked down to the espresso shop for a milkshake.  Thin neg on this.  Dark back there.

Coffee beans at 1/10 sec and wide open.

Then down to the PO to send off some cameras.

A guy pulled up on this nice Trumpet.  I had a Bonny, back in the day...

Love these machines.

APX 100 in PCT for 9 min.

Very nice Dean.  Looking at the wall, I would guess their are some Vets working there.  Never used any Olys of any kind, but they sure have an ardent following.

Good stuff. The Trumpet brings me back. I  had a 650 Bonneville in 1973. It cost me $1300.

Ach - Olympus 35Ses have been near misses a couple times on Eb@y for me. They don't show up that often. Nice to know the camera does nice things. I'll have to keep trying.

If I am not mistaken that is actually an olympus 35-SII.  They are just marked olympus 35-S.  Do you have a f1.8, f2 or f2.8 lens?

I have one with a f2.8 lens (missing flash shoe cover and sometimes sticking open at 1/250).  In my opinion, this is the best fixed lens rangefinder I've ever used.  They just fit into my hand perfectly.  The nicest thing is the wind lever.  Damn that's smooth!  My first roll isn't finished yet.

Also, do you have the lens cap?  It is very cute!

We shouldn't talk to much about these cameras, to keep the price down ya know Wink  Also, for those interested in finding one cheap, there was also one under the "tower" name, don't know the model number.

That's a nice one.  I've got a beater that looks to be an older model with a self-timer lever on the front.  Otherwise, it is very similar, and has the  1.8 G. Zuiko.  I got everything working fine on it, but haven't found a rear element in four years of looking.
. . Those are some nice shots around town from yours.

Dean ,
They are beautiful Photos. I like them very much. Many years ago I can't to get a Triumph and I'd to resigned to a little japanese Honda.
I like this "type" of Photography (maybe because I do the same), every time that I've to go out, I carry one of my classics for to do something.
Thanks you Dean, for to share them.

Terrific stuff, Dean.  You have really done the S justice.  This is the kind of photography it was made for.  I love my Oly 35RC, and I've been looking for an S, but they are becoming scarce.

Has anybody tried the olympus ace?  Is it as smooth as the 35-S and 35-SII?  I only know they have teh same style of lens caps Wink

Awesome images. Those Olympus guys knew what they were doing. And that 35 is in good hands.

Thank you all for the nice comments!

This model is just marked Olympus 35-S on the top, and it also has the old style Tower logo next to the accy shoe.  This one is the f2.8 model, and the only other model I've actually seen is the f1.8.  I don't hold out much hope of finding one of those...
The shutter in these is a near exact copy of the small Compur.
The rangefinder is a perfect match for my eyes, and has floating parallax correction bright lines.

A customer, Everett MacLean, sent me his 35-S for repair and cleaning, and when I sent it back to him, he wrote that he had another one, and would I like to have it.  He gave me this fine little shooter as a gift.  (No lens cap, Wimpler), But after a little fixing it's become one of my true favorites.

I watch ebay for them, but they don't come up in numbers very often.  Just here and there.  I would probably over pay for one now that I know what they are all about.  We all have our weaknesses...
