Finished the test shots from the Argus C4 I fixed and I have to say WOW, what great results from a sleeper.  I don't know it this lens is a 3 element or a 4 but it's pretty darn good.

The pictures were taken out on the Palouse right before the car blew up.  Shot on APX I bulk loaded and developed in D-76 for 8 minutes.

Glad to hear the camera's doing better than the car...  Wink

I think the Cintar is a triplet, but there were a lot of VERY good triplets in the late 1950s and 1960s, before consumers started paying a lot more for five, six, and seven multi-coated elements.  The Anaston on the Pony 135 is a triplet, too, and it's barely discernible from an Ektar of similar age and specs in reasonable size prints, unless both are shot wide open.

Great shots.  I especially like #1 and #3.

Looks like $15 well spent - that's about how much it cost me to go to the movies alone.

Michael,

Those are excellent B&W shots, crisp and snappy.  I particularly admire your use of shadow in all of your photos.  I haven't used my C-4 in several months and have done very little B&W with it.  Your post makes me want to try some soon.

Given all the recent good C-4 posts, a poor person won't be able to afford a decent C-4 on ebay anymore.

Michael - those are great shots. I like No.2, but they all have a 1950's aura about them.   I have also been promising myself that I will feed my C-4 with a roll of B&W soon - you have changed that to "sooner".

Thanks everyone I really like the camera.  I decided to keep the 100mm lens on one of the C4s and the other has the 50.  I'm going to keep them in a bag labeled "Argus Street Shooter Bag".

Dan we had a head gasket blow on our car and had it replaced a while back.  On this trip the same thing happened again but this time it may only be the radiator expansion plug.  Fingers crossed because the last time cost 1800 bucks.

Can't wait for the next Argus day now.

Hmmm.  If you do find it's another head gasket, don't settle for just replacing it again; if you blow two that close together, you probably have a warped head, and will need to have it milled flat before you'll be able to keep gaskets in it.  Doing that while it's apart will only about a couple hundred dollars to the bill, tops -- and you might well be able to make a case that the shop should have checked if it was needed, and had it done, the last time, and avoid paying labor for the current repair (especially likely if you had the work done at a dealership).

Hey, those are really good! What aputure range are you using? I'll bet ther'll be some bamooka involved somewhere down the line. I was gonna go out and shoot a little today but the weather is really crappy. Too nasty for a old man and an old pooch.

LOL thanks Glenn and Erich.  I think it was around f8 to f11.  It was getting on in the afternoon and I had a orange filter that came with the camera so I opened a bit from sunny 16.  I bet I can get some Bamooka from the Enna 100, I'm going to give it a try when this rain stops.

Erich there are a couple of farms here that used those old metal wheels for fences.  I just found out one of them is an art studio I want to go to.

Bit late finding this one... They're some really nice shots Michael! I hope the car repair is as inexpensive as it can be.

Michael, are those line wheels from that large barn in Colton?  Is that where the art stuido is located?
