Hello all, I am working on a group of religous symbols in hopes of tying things together into a presentation. This is one of the images taken in Sedona Az. Yashica D TMAX 100. Scanned with Epson 3170. Any and all suggestions desired. PS- thanks Craig for giving folks a nice place. -Brad

Brad, you're welcome.
First impression here is that of the contrast being jacked-up.

Yes, contrast has been boosted. I intend to wet print the series. I tend to scan with higher contrast settings too otherwise the result seem flat to me. C.E. you use the same scanner I think or at least used to.

I've been shooting 35mm lately, not using the 3170, finding my lab gets better (and quicker) scans. Will invest in a dedicated film scanner sometime next year.
I do not suggest adjusting contrast in-scanner. I would open up the levels inputs to full, adjust to threshholds, scan, then post-proc in P-shop or PSP, Gimp, whatever you use.

I'm not seeing the picture from my present location. I'll try again when I get home. I'm very interested to see what you are doing with this project.

Well, that was strange. Was able to get the url from the properties box and view the image. Then, when I went back to the thread, the image came up. Very nice cross and setting. Looks like some excellent detail and tonality, though it would be helpful to see a bigger version.

Same here, Mike. When you viewed the image directly, the image cached in your browser. When you came back to the page, it fetched it from the cache (URL = image ID in cache.)

Hmmm, I even edited his img tag to strict HTML and it fails. Looks like Mottershead is dealing with his bandwidth issues. Good thing for him.
Brad - you might want to look at photobucket or one of the others folks are using that allow image-linking.

I've got links to quite a few photos on photo.net at my own web site, but they are all to actual folders or presentation pages. I thought I might make use of that on a continuing basis, but it turns out that photobucket is really easier to use since it will automatically generate the thumbnail and link code. Anyway, I hope we'll see more examples from Brad's project. I'm not a religious person, but I often seem to find subjects I like that have a religious connection.

Thanks for the help Craig & Mike. I had a little trouble getting that posted in the first place. I have been considering putting together a personal website or trying on the on line places. That really is odd. I was able to view it just fine earlier.
