I see from several places (including the forums at photo-i.co.uk and imaging-resource.com) that there are a couple of interesting new flatbeds coming.

A couple from HP, and a new Microtek - seemingly an i900 replacement. Both do up to 4x5, the Microtek I assume will to 8x10.  The interesting point, common to both, is the fact that they have focusing lenses rather than the fixed focus lenses found on other flatbeds.  It will be interesting to see if this results in noticably sharper scans.  The HP looks to be priced quite sharply too - they seem to be quite keen to gain some market share.

Perhaps in the Land of the Long White Cloud; but meanwhile back at home not among those nasty "liberals".
