I did some experiments yesterday with Nikkor 24mm f/2.8 on 30D in Av mode. Surprisingly, it WORKS! Since the lens doesn't open up when I use smaller apertures, there is no need to transmit the aperture information to the camera body. The aperture reading on 30D body is 0.0 and the clever Canon engineers made the camera metering TTL directly. So it worked perfectly the same way I use a canon lens (sans AF). And I can use exposure compensation as usual.

But I switched back to full manual mode when I shot something more serious because I don't want the camera meter to interfere with my photography. Smiley

Right, so that's not what I thought. Makes sense though. Looking through both Sam's and Dean's cameras, I thought they were just about as bright as looking at any slr viewfinder. They are a bit smaller but pretty bright, at least at full aperture.

This would be my one nit on the D200... the viewfinder. It's definitely usable but I had brought my F2 to New York to take photos of our event there (along with the D200) and switching between the two cameras at the event, there's clearly a huge difference between the F2's viewfinder and the digi. The F2 gives me 100% view and it's also probably a good stop brighter.

There's some third-party viewfinder enhancements I can get for the digi and was thinking about ordering one.

Nothing I've seen comes close to your Leica though, Jorn.
