I left you a comment of flickr, but it's a great portrait. All your photos have such wonderful, smooth tones to them.
Do you print and scan prints, or are you using a Photoshop-ish program?

I like environmental portraits, showing people in their work. The only thing I would like to see, is to lighten it up a bit more. There's a lot of detail in the shadows, not all of it useful or even desireable, but I think the equiv of about 1 stop brighter would be nice.

Andrea, did you ever see the portraits Chris Clunn did with a Hasselblad around Smithfield meat market? Carry on like this and you'll match him point for point.

THANKS FOR this everyone. The pictures on flikr are scanned negs. I either print on a r1800 or else play around with POP. As for some Photshop programmeish, I have Elements 2 so will lighten them up a abit. Thanks again Much appreciated.

Love it!! Your portraits are A+. There is something about available light b&w portraits in an urban setting that strike a chord with me. Great job.

Yeah, lighter is better. I like the second one a lot, Andrea. Good stuff! Jack in New Mexico

Both are very fine portraits that capture wonderful light and expression. I think the first one suffers a bit from downsizing and jpg compression.

Andrea, very fine portrait with such a calming and serene atmosphere. I also like 'Princess Victoria-How do I look?' with the cycling helmet...

I still like the first one better, but I'm a sucker for heavy contrast.
