Ok all this flashing is making me get antsy. I have a set of cheap strobes and just bought 2 real cheap silver umbrellas. Thought I would drag this stuff out and start learning. First off I don't really have much for suject matter around here but my wife has 2 violins. I call em fiddles Smiley I only get to mess around with the cheapy one......... just laid it out on the bed in the case.  1 strobe pointed into umbrella off the bottom of violin at about 45 degree angle set on low power.  This is my real cheapy china strobe as the others are packed. Only has 3 setting  low med hi. It is wireless that is nice.

Still getting used to the D200 but this makes for faster learning for me. I hate writing everything down. Ok I hate writing anything down.

For some reason I ended up on ISO 1600. Will have to go back and revist my menu and try again. I was on auto ISO and only had about 30 minutes to get these so I was rushing. But all in all not horrible.

The light artifact on here is I think the light reflecting off of the check piece.

I was trying to light in such a way to catch the rosin. guess i tworked out ok.
Will have to try with a background of some kind. need some black cloth.  A dark maroon migh tlook good as well.

Travis, keep after it. Lighting has opened my mind to all sorts of possibilities, including ones without need for lighting, but helping me better understand light from all sources.
