I just learned of this product today. Thought I would pass it on. It seems to be selling for about $179 USD at places like Newegg. (B&H doesn't seem to carry it, perhaps because they are shifting rapidly toward digital in many respects).

Wow, that's pretty cool. I would worry about the shove method for inserting and moving the film holder - that's the part the is schtupted on my Microtek 4000TF. Keeps thinking there is a holder in there but it ain't. And when you do put one in, it tosses it back out. Maddening. :censored:

But it was an excellent scanner resolution/detail/image-wise when it worked. Looks like this one is very nearly the same as far as image quality goes. And I did not pay $179 for mine. :censored: :censored:

Jake

I knew if I waited long enough something like this would drop in price....But my 3170 will still be my MF scanner.... Yup I think I will newegg it tonight.....

It will allow me to get some junk out of the apartment.... Now to sell enough stuff as to be able to live in the Village for 3 years free....

Here's a link to where I first heard of the scanner. You can see right off why I'm impressed. Might want to get one as a backup for my 5 year old Minolta. At this price it's temping. Oh yeah, the aviation photographer involved I had never heard of before, but I'm still looking for my socks. Warning to dialup users: Image intensive page follows.
