i posted over at photo.net as well but i want to see what folks here think as well....about shooting 70mm film!

kodak does still make tri-x in this format, 100 feet long rolls (unperforated)....but the minimum order is 36 rolls !

that comes to $5100.00

does anyone want to join forces to buy some of this? i have a couple of people interested...i need about a dozen more!

also, does anyone know of who did the modification to allow the Hasselblad 70 backs to use unperforated film? i have a back on the way to me from keh and i'm going to have to do this...the backs are going for $47....the cassettes can be found for $7...

Would also be good for anyone serious about respooling 616 film.

Too bad J&C isn't up and running. They had 70mm B&W film at what I have to presume was much, much better pricing. 5,100 bucks?Huh Wow! I have an ancient roll of 70mm Tri-X double perfed that I use to spool 116. It's starting to get a little fog. Hopefully, this summer will see it get more use.

Well, Kodak's price on the unperfed Tri-X is about $140 per roll; IIRC J&C had the Efke 100 (same size, 70 unperfed) for about $100/roll.  IMO, it's likely worth the differential, if you have a need for ISO 400.

The big problem with respooling this stuff to 116 or 616 is going to be that it's too fast for a lot of the oldest generation (i.e. best made) cameras in that format.  If you have some ND filters around, that might not be a big deal...

I have a 70mm back for the Mamiya RB67.
I have never used it, because I never had such film.
I sold the camera and lenses but still have the back.

Is that the long roll 70mm back?  I always wondered how you got a couple of meters of 70mm developed.

Travis: Yes, it is a long back for continuous shooting.
