What would you use to stick down a loose focus ring grip? I think the rubber or plastic has lost most of its elasticity, so would rather not try to take it off but instead try to get some sort of adhesive under it by capillary action or some such.

What would you use to replace a missing focus ring grip? The one on this particular lens would have been unusually narrow (around 1/4" or even less).

Try 2 sided carpet tape from your local DIY store, it's quite thin but strong. You can "roll back" most focus ring grips, install the tape and then roll it back.

If it's completely missing, then maybe a fat elastic, or just leave it as-is.

I'd cut a long strip, narrow strip from a piece of rubber sheet and glue it around the lens.
