1  Gearheads / Heads Up! Guilt-Free HU-Zone / This week's stuff on: March 10, 2012, 07:49:50 AM
The stuff I have on ebay now is a Voigtländer Perkeo II, a Rolleicord Va Type I, a Minolta Maxxum 70-210 f3.5 (not the beercan), and a Voigtländer accessory rangefinder.

Thanks,

3  Gearheads / the Classics / Re: What 35mm rangefinder/scale focus to keep on: March 03, 2012, 11:17:15 AM
I am keeping my SRT 101 and all my manual minolta lenses.  Aside from the other advantages, with the pancake lens, it fits in my drybox so I can easily take it kayaking.

Selling off all my Minolta Maxxum stuff on SLRs.  I have some other Minolta manual SLR's but all have something wrong with them and I'll probably give them away for shipping on here after I sort through them.

The Canonet is the G-III.  I am going to put a roll of film through it this week so I can guarantee it works in all respects before I sell it.

I am leaning toward keeping both the Vito's since they don't seem to bring much money and they also both fit in my drybox.

I also have some medium format stuff and I have already decided to keep the Isolette (bought from J. Kreckel) and sell the rest.

Sadly keeping them all is not an option, I need the money and besides I'd rather someone actually use them.
5  Gearheads / the Classics / What 35mm rangefinder/scale focus to keep on: March 01, 2012, 10:16:14 PM
I am selling off most of my camera stuff and I've decided to keep one 35mm SLR and one 35mm rangefinder.

I have a Canonet QL-17, a Vito BL (scale focus), a Vita CLR and a Minolta Himatic 9.  All of them work in all respects except for the meters on the Vito's don't work.  Both the Vito's have Color Skopar lenses.

The Canonet is probably worth the most money, so on that basis, I think it has to go.

Which one of the other three should I keep?

Thanks,

Dan
6  Gearheads / Heads Up! Guilt-Free HU-Zone / For cost of shipping - Beat up Minolta Maxxum 7000i that isn't going to sell on: February 19, 2012, 08:31:18 PM
http://www.ebay.com/itm/280830093680?ssPageName=STRK:MEUSX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1562.l2649

Here it is.  I sold all the lenses so no reason to keep it.   I beat this up pretty good as you can see from the pictures, but it still works.

Will ship Priority Mail (already in the box) so around $8 or $9.

9  Gearheads / Heads Up! Guilt-Free HU-Zone / Minolta A Mount 24mm 2.8 lens on: February 08, 2012, 09:30:22 AM
I hated to do it, but I put up my Minolta A Mount 24mm wide angle lens.  Great for someone who has a Sony DSLR.

I am also starting to put up a bunch of stuff from my mother's former antique shop if you are interested in that kind of stuff.  Mostly china from the late 1800's.  Here's a link to all the stuff I have up for auction.

Thanks for looking.

11  Gearheads / Heads Up! Guilt-Free HU-Zone / Old Promaster Sony-Minolta Zoom Lens & Nikonos frame viewfinder on: January 25, 2012, 11:54:52 AM
I haven't been around here for a while, good to see the site is still going strong.

Time to thin the herd and auction off some of the film camera stuff that I am not using anymore.  I am starting with the cheap stuff to learn about how ebay auctions work.

The first item is a mid 1990's 28mm-80mm  Promaster Zoom lens for Minolta A-mount (also fits new Sony DSLRs).  It would be good for a "take into harm's way" lens or maybe for a kid.

No reserve.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/280812565531?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

Second item is a Nikonos frame type (no glass) underwater viewfinder.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/280812094779?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

No questions asked return if you don't like it (you pay return shipping).  At least starting out, I can only ship within the United States.

Thanks,

Dan

12  Gearheads / Digital Dharma / good shots on: January 02, 2009, 08:06:23 AM
Did you take that from the observation deck on the Virginia side?

They run a race in the falls itself in early summer which is worth seeing.

13  Gearheads / the Classics / it also has on: September 08, 2008, 02:05:25 PM
a 1:1 viewfinder, which is pretty cool.  It is handy for using as a cheap finder from a broken one.

The Vito BL I think is the best buy of the series, since the meters are always broken and they have the good viewfinder, they are cheap and a little better built than the C series.
14  Gearheads / Digital Dharma / should be yummy on: August 24, 2008, 04:05:30 PM
Should be yummy unless they have already gotten tough.

We ate those as kids.

We also had a place when we were kids where we got polyporus fondorus every year.  Same idea, but bigger and brown with white underneath.
15  Gearheads / Digital Dharma / if you want to go PC, don't get a dell on: May 09, 2008, 02:03:34 PM
Go to a local guy and get him to put together one for you (or do it yourself if you are one of those people).

Spend a little extra money for good powersupply and case.  Get a motherboard that has both pci and pci-e slots on it and a good processor upgrade path.  The get the cheapest processor and just enough RAM and then whatever else you got on the DELL.  Probably only $100 or so more than the dell, but a lot more expandable in the future.

For the screen, go in with an awesome internet deal and make him match it.

I think generic pc's are better, because the things dell does to make its price point make it harder to expand in the future.
