31  General / The Eyes Have It | W/NW / Misty morning on: November 24, 2012, 11:24:13 AM
Finally, the magnetic pull of a misty morning got me to grab a camera and go outside and try to record the unique quality fog emitted that particular day.

This photo was taken a short distance from my driveway looking down Frost street. It is the best of a series of exposures I made behind and in front of our house.

Great job Nancy with your latest camera gift. I've had most models of the small fixed lens Olys, but never had the 35RC. However, like Philip, I had the 35EC and loved it.

The photos of your series that I enjoy most are No. 3,  the one with the bikes and all that have metal railings and fences.

Thanks Reed!

My metabolism went haywire and I went into hibernation before the first snow, which came last night. Maybe that will have the opposite reaction and I will get active and start reaching for some of my cameras that beg to be used.

Love to see some recent pics of your daughter. Bet she's grown quite a bit in the past year. Hope all is well with you and your family.

We wore no Halloween costumes this year and our two sons left the nest long ago. However, I did take a photo of the only two children that knocked on our door for "Trick or Treat."

Note: No flash was used. There must have been some camera motion in the only exposure I made.  It has an unexpected retro painting-like quality, which Claudia and I like.

Hope you're having a HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Larry!

You have an elfish sense of humor with twinkling eyes. Both rank high in my ledger of personal qualties.

As the biblical saying goes. "The eyes are the mirror of the soul"

Phil,

Excellent self portrait! Well, according to the membership list, today is your 59th birthday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

You are one of the pillars of NFf. One of the cohort of Samsons that holds up this friendly photo forum. You are well appreciated.

Scott,

I've enjoyed immensely your portraits of Braedan, but secretly missed seeing those of Maddie in recent years. When they were young, you brought out their unique charm. I never saw freckles used to enhance a head shot so effectively as you did with Braedan. Maddie's speciality was constantly radiating her twinkling eyes and projecting a smile that warmed the heart. .

As Robert suggested, maybe Maddie didn't have the patience to sit for portraits as she grew up; conversely, Braedan has that quality in spades.

Well, all this is prelude to compliment you and Maddie for her superb portrait. Her eyes and smile beam off the screen and captivate the viewer, IMO. It certainly holds my attention intently and invites study to see what makes this portrait so successful.

Bravissimo, Scott!

I’ve been AWOL from posting pics lately. I'm in a photo blue funk and have hardly taken any pics for some time. These are record shots of our 61st anniversary taken last Wednesday, Oct 24th, in our backyard.

Though all exposures were set at auto focus, the distance sensor must have missed us and focused on the trees in the last photo. Nonetheless, we like it.

Kalle,

Claudia's  portrait was shot on my Pentax K10D. I'm curious how I can make a silver print from a digital photo other than copying its print with a film camera. Is there another way?

For all those that made comments re my fishing accident:

I haven't attempted to fish at Lake Cochituate since my 9/11 fall. It seems to be a jinxed favorite fishing hole for me. They stock trout twice a year at that large lake, but are very late in their fall restocking.

Will I fish there again? The aches and pain are gone. Will I? Hmmmm We'll see.

Kudos to Nancy for starting this thread and her examples are lovely. Mike joined in with his western version of big sky shots.

Have to start looking up for a change, been looking down lately for mushrooms, with unspectacular results.
