Awesome stuff Craig.
I to have been way impressed with the cameras on smartphones lately. I loved my HTC Rezound's camera but the phone bit the dust a few months ago. I then upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy S3 and have been just as impressed. I've basically quit using my P&S cameras for the most part and pull out the Nikon when needed.
Not sure if you have it yet but check out Perfectly Clear. It's $2 well spent and allows some nice basic image adjustment and some other cool stuff as well.
Glad to see back in these parts. Been MIA myself for a while.

Veyr nice. Everytime I think I don't need a micro 4/3 camera, someone goes and posts images like these!
I really like "Up & Down" and "High Rise" as well. Great metalic feel to them.

These are really incredible. You captured the sense of abandonment and decay very well.
I was in downtown Detroit back in September. I went to a Tigers game with my two brother in laws and we then drove out through some really depressing parts of downtown. It's unreal how many buidlings are just sitting empty in decay.

These are reall beautiful Graham.
I think the downloaded settings did a fine job. I really like the last shot above.
As far as Rockwell in concerned, I not sure I would only shoot in jpeg though for this type of shooting and subject. I guess I also agree that the basic jpeg compression doesn't always work that well. I know Ken doesn't promote RAW shooting much but I think it's a must. Everyday snaps would be fine but if your wanting to really create an image that can go on the wall, RAW is the way to go. I shoot RAW + jpeg all the time. Why not? I can get about 500 or so RAW/jpegs on a 16gb card. Sometimes the jpegs are fine but it's nice to have that RAW image to work with.

Thanks Phil and Will.
Will, The gardens are located within the Seattle Arboretum here in town. I've been to a few Japanese Gardens and this is one of the best I've seen so far. Really beautiful. They have some Spring and Fall photography sessions during the years. 10 Photographers max by reservation and they allow tripods during these sessions. I missed out this year but will try in the Spring and Fall next year. The ISO performance on my Nikon D700 really proved itself when hand holding on this trip.
Phil, I took the cards to a local pro shop here in town yesterday. A couple guys tried to get something off the cards but had no luck. They said something is physically damaged in the cards or maybe the bent pins caused some type of short? They were more technical in their explanation of course. The cards won't work at all now. They are toast!

Gearheads / Digital Dharma / Some Fall Color - Barely!

This Fall has been a major disapointment for me in terms of Photography. And not for the lack of trying, scenery and money spent. Over the last few weeks I have ventured into the Mountains, the forests and even the beaches to capture the amazing fall colors or my new home in the Northwest. Spent the last couple weekends travelling and some good money on lodging in some prime areas. In Texas we had green and brown with maybe a tinge of yellow here and there. So I could barely control myself this season now living in such a beautiful place for fall colors. I probably took well over a thousand images over the last few weeks? Well....... last week I went to upload everything and I found out my three Sandisk 16GB CF cards that I used were damaged and the files never fully wrote to the card. They showed up on the camera LCD but I could not upload them. Turns out my card reader in my computer sustained some bent pins recently without my knowledge. The last time I uploaded images from the cards, the cards were damaged. I had no way of knowing this until it was too late. Who looks inside a CF card reader after every upload? Well, besides me now! So needless the say, the hundreds and hundreds of fall color images I captured are forever gone. I have tried recovering the images and nothing has worked. I've tried everything. But, enough about that. New card reader and new CF cards in hand, I ventured out and tried to capture some of the remaining color around town. Here are a few of my favs and a link to a Flickr Slideshow for the rest. At least next year I will have a better idea of the best places to go. I was pretty much winging it this year. Out of curiosity, I logged into my photbucket account. It's been a long time since I last logged in and I did get the new "Terms of Use" update that Tom mentioned. Here are sections in question highlighted in red.
James, I wonder if you logged out and then logged back in if you would get the new Terms of Use?
I'll probably just delete my account as I never really use it anymore.

The third on is a little confusing to me?
