That is amazing.
it puts me in mind of the Hudson River School of 19th century painters, somehow, though the hills are way too gentle for that, and the HR painters tended to put in a lot of (often golden) light.

The fenceline is a nice foil to the clouds.

Awesome sky. The only thing I can think of is dodging the lower section, to make that fence line stand out a bit more clearly.

It's a shame with Lexington and all the urban sprawl as of late that those nice green fields will be gone around here. But I suppose you have plenty still in Scott county-- that is until pollution kills everything else. Semms like I can never quite capture the sky like that. It's nice

Fantastic shot Josh. I love the muted colour & the interplay between the static "permanent" nature of the fields/fence and the changing, fluid nature of the sky (i.e. what Mike said in far fewer words ).

Nice brooding, heavy atmosphere. The fenceline adds nicely to the shot.
Probably worth playing around with, both in colour and B&W to see what (additional) variations you can come up with.

Thanks everyone for the comments. This is coming home from adorama soon as an 8x12 and I'm really excited to see what it looks like on paper. I've been wanting a scene like this for a while but had never found a place or a good sky to get it. This image is a composite of two seperate exposures, one for the sky and the other for the field as my digital camera just couldn't handle the range. I used a "sepia" tone in my RAW software, then pulled the saturation down and pulled the blue channel curve down quite a bit.
This is exactly what I had envisioned when I set my camera up. First time for me, getting a final result that matched so closely to what I saw in my mind's eye. Very gratifying... is that the right word?
