Waiting for the light

The finches had to make do this year since my neighbor didn't hang any flower pots.  Porchlights always seem to be good foundations for a nest.

I started this too late, as the little ones have already hatched.  But I may still get some egg shots if she lays another brood later on.

Nice.  I wonder if that light prevents cold nights.

Well yes.... BUT..........there is a downside to coach lights. While they look 'cool' and 'chique' most moder coach lightfitting sold these days for these sort of decorative light have a serious problem. They are not vented..some of my customers(in ye olden days) used to complain to me that they kept on having to replace incandescent globes quite frequently in their coach light.... The reason is that the globes over heat(if you are an incandescent globe, that is a bad thing.).because the lack of ventilation , the filament will fail a lot sooner than other globes in the same house.<removes electricians hat and gets of soapbox.returns to dark corner to pollinate>

Oh, it's vented alright, Kalle.  Just look at that pile of dead insects in the bottom.  I'm still hoping to get a photo of the mother on the nest, but she hightails it outta there whenever anyone goes in or out of the building.  I'd hang one of those field cameras, but either someone would steal it, or some other finch would build it's nest on top.
