I have an ansco Viking folding camera that produces those nice 6x9 sized negatives.  I was just posting a couple of landscape pics on my blog that I took with it on an elk hunt I did this last fall.  Anyway, it hit me.  Vikings travelled, all over the world, and probably came to this continent way before Columbus.  I would love to see what you folks could do with this camera and the large negative size.  I would run one more roll of 120 through the camera before it went out to ensure that everything is working as it should be.  Is anyone interested in taking a trip around the world with a real Viking?  We could post results here and I would blog about it later.  If we have enough participants, I will set up the roster and ground rules and ship him out.  I have to refer to the Viking as a male because there really is nothing feminine about the camera.  Interested?

Thank you
Mike

I'm in.  Let's see if a Viking can sail in the desert.

Hey, that would be cool.  If you send it to me first, I can see about getting the shutter and lens in top shape for the subsequent shooters.

There's a manual here, which may help the participants:  http://www.butkus.org/chinon/ansco_viking/ansco_viking.htm (I assume that's the model you have)

We've got a real live Viking, a desert rat, and a biker dude so far, perfect.  Any more?  We are off to a good start.

Mike,

That would be great.  I think the shutter is a bit different, but so close as to make no real difference.  This was my first ever folder that I bought off of e-bay and fixed up a bit.  I am sure that it could use a good looking over and I can't wait to see what pics it can produce.  I'll check and see the shutter and lens combo tonight.

Mike

Biker dude--You dat!! and now a Punk.....I mean skater dude.

Yeah, but you have the look with the shaved head, tats, and all.  you are just missing the leathers.  Wait that's a line I used on my wife--strike that last comment.   Plus you take photos of bikers; close enough for me.

I got a long CV, but maybe my time as roadie for a band would fit the bill.  (I'm probably the only guy who  can admit to falling asleep during a Pink Floyd concert ...)

And it's been a long time since I was in Scandinavia, so if Hagar (or whoever) won't get indigestion from a few sheep, I'm in.

Mike, I would like to play. That Viking looks a lot like a Billy Record I used once. Maybe I can shoot some candombe down here. Cool

And about the name, Olaf the Viking was a popular cartoon years ago, is it still around?
