I thought only "music hath charm to soothe the savage breast" - according to Shakespeare?

Hey, I don't write the stuff, I just quote it:

Music hath charms to soothe the savage breast,
To soften rocks, or bend a knotted oak.
- William Congreve

Then I'm retarded... I always thought it was "to sooth the savage beast."

You're not retarded, I think everyone always thought it was beast.  I bet  some Puritan-minded ejit edited the poem for mass consumption, probably thinking the general public couldn't handle hearing the word breast without giggling like a twelve year old, or fainting at the sound of a dirty word!  Or maybe he thought the word breast would drive men into a frenzy of raping and pillaging (or just raping).

I think we have quite a good start here.  Could you all e-mail me your mailing addresses so that I can start compiling a list?  I will give it a couple more days so that folks can join up but I would like to close the list after a few days so that we can minimize the mail time.  Spread the word.

It is good to see that Nancy has joined for many reasons.  Looking forward to seeing her pics, but relieved that she signed up even after the male comment.  I work at the university and someone is always offended by gender comments.  It gets tiring after awhile.  Anyway, she quotes stuff too, and said a naughty word.  Irreverence, I love it. Cheesy

I think we will name the camera Hagar.  I loved Hagar the Horrible cartoon strips as a kid, almost as much as Captain Caveman.  So, Operation Hagar is underway.  I am very excited that all of you have decided to give this a try.  I can't wait to see your images.  I am sure you will make the camera shine.

I want to be on this list too. It's not likely I'll take Hagar to L'anse aux Meadows (the site of the only authenticated Norse settlement in North America) because it's 1000+ km from here, but he'll at least see some other Newfoundland sights.  PM following, Mike.

It would take a lot more than that to offend me.  In fact, when I read what you said, I had to go back to see what you were talking about, that's how much I paid attention.  I also loved Hagar the Horrible, and in fact I was thinking that Hagar should be its name before you mentioned it.  Unless you want to call it Thor or something more macho.  Then I'll have an excuse to go around saying "I'm Thor;  well, it hurts".

Nancy

P.S.  I love that you made Newfoundland look like a different country,   which the rest of us in Canada already knew!

So far the camera is going to Mexice, Norway, Britian, Canada, Newfoundland, and many states here in the US.

I always love a good 6x9 (I've got four active folders in that format, plus a couple box cameras), and I've got plenty of film on hand these days (though that could change, over time).  Please count me in!

I will mail the camera out to Mike K on Monday for the first round.  It looks like we have a great list of people.  Make sure that you e-mail or PM me your addresses and I will get the list done this weekend.

Nancy--I almost included LA as another country as well.  It sounds exotic to me.  Actually, everytime I have been there it seems like a foreign country.  Isn't Newfoundland over in Europe somewhere?  OK so I'm a gelographically ignorant American.    I blame it all on the school system.  Wait, I am in the school system.  I will just be quiet now.

I am pumped about this.  Thanks for participating all.

OK - I will put some priority into getting it running (maybe give me a week or two?), then you'll have some time to perfect your list.

I would suggest letting it stay in Canada (& Newfoundland) first, so it doesn't need to cross any borders until necessary.  Pick rich people at the end of each country to swallow the inflated postal fees Smiley

6x9 is a good format to use for this - it shouldn't take long for people to make 8 exposures on a roll.
