The local toy store had a Super Ikonta returned (the purchaser couldn't figure out how to work it!) with a fresh roll of Pan F 50 in it. I volunteered to use it up  Cheesy

So now I have an exposed roll of film in front of me and was wondering if any of you have a prefered developer for it?

I've got some Diafine and some Rodinal ... but don't mind trying something else out

TIA!

2 min developing time is begging for pouring time errors and streaking IMO

Note, 2 mins sol B Diafine only. Rodinal, locate a good time/agitation routine via Mass Dev.

Diafine is indeed a different beast, since I understand development time isn't a critical parameter in this strange soup.

It is if you want to pull it. If he shot that film at 50ASA, he will not want to push it to full dev of 3mins. That kick seems to come around 2mins. I could be wrong in his case and make no warantees.

If you want to attempt to pull or push develop with Diafine, the prefered method is  to use a "B" bath with a different alkali (thus a different "B" solution pH) or a different concentration of alkali (or both).  Recall that split developers like Diafine are designed to develop to completion.

My personal Rodinal preference for Ilford Pan F (ISO 50) is the 1:50 dilution used in a small tank for 7 minutes at 68F with agitation consisting of 5 gentle torus motion inversions per minute.

Rodinal 1+100 would be my poison of choice
I haven;t shot PanF but assuming you exposed it as 50 digitaltruth says:
1+50 11 min

so 1+100 would do a good job for 20 minutes with agitation every other minute.

I used to use Ilfosol-S on all films many years ago. I stopped after I had a couple of bad bottles - and then the salesman told me I was the only one buying it! All was just great as long as I could keep the volume up, but when my "shooting speed" decreased, the developer died.

Rodinal 1:50 is what I use. 11 minutes at 20 C. Like this:

You should choose dilution depending on the contrast you want and the scenes you shot. Don't worry about grain, this film has almost none.

D-76 1+3 at 15.5 min or so will also give good results.
