When typing into the small box given for typing a reply, when I get to the bottom of the box the text starts jumping around madly, rather than scrolling smoothly as I add more lines of text. It will insist on placing the line that I'm typing just BELOW the bottom of the text box; I type a character and the line pops momentarily into view, and then immediately submarines again.
Using the scroll bar to try to place the text entry point in the middle of the box does not help.
These aren't long messages.
Or I'll hit 'enter' and it'll give me a space instead - or I'll hit enter and it'll give me a CR *and* a space. Odd.
Is it just me? thanks, Bill

I've never seen that. Which theme are you using? Right now I use 'SMF Revamped' and I get a huge writing space when I reply. I'm not entirely sure this matters... the browser might.
Try changing themes and see if that helps.

Are you using IE8? Try compatibility mode. Or another browser.

Does the same in IE8 for me on Vista. It does not do it on IE8 and WIn 7 (the kids' computer) or on this machine running Chrome...

Sounds like IE8 is the chief suspect. We just switched to it (here at the office) and it's wreaking some havoc with some of our browser-interfaced tools ("whadda ya MEAN <alt>-pgdwn doesn't work anymore??!!"). I just switched to "Compatability Mode" and I'll try to make this post long enough to give it a test. an extra line.... So here's another gratuitous line solely for the sake of testing. And yet another. And how about one more. And now I'll go back up there and put in another 'extra line'. Whew! It works. Thanks all! cheers! Bill

And, since I cluttered up this thread, here's a picture of Braedan from this morning with a decent little Sunnie he caught on a worm: And NCAA Div I lacrosse finals are at 3:30...

Okay - above is straight typing in Chrome on Vista. No "Compatibility View" option here. Cursor randomly repositions while typing. Pissing me off. Ideas?!

Works fine this way. I was wondering how NancyB could make such huge posts and not pull all her hair out. Thanks for the hint.

I have been experiencing the same issue. In the past, nosuch issue existed for me, using the same computer with the same IE and NF. Something must have been changed at NF.

Raid,
Recheck your compatabilty mode setting, as it may have gone back to default.

Raid - I assure you, nothing has change here at NFf. And I can't think of any change that would make manifest the problem(s) stated herein.
