Two photos, same subject, different shutter speeds.  Which do you like better, and why not the other.

In this case, unlike normally, I would say I like the one with the shorter shutter time, aka, the first one best, but thats probaby just because I like the tones of that one the best. Normally I like the water with "long" shutter speeds for the more calm mood and to me better looking water streams. But they are both good, and if the last one had the same tones (exposure/development) I think I would have choosen that one in this case to.

Taulen, thanks for the comment.  The first one came out just about the way I wanted it to.  I post these on another forum, and well, the first one looks darker there.  Maybe just something in the transmission of the medium.

In the second shot, the water didn't come out the way I had hoped.  It looks like crude oil to me.  Some of the other shots from the series (Tinker Creek) have a better look to them.  I'm a bit suspect of the speeds on this camera, as it didn't seem to do well when going from faster to slower speeds.  But then it was cold, and the camera is almost as old as I am, so I can excuse a little variation.  I'll have to remember to put a shutter release cable in the kit next time.

I like the tones of the first one, but the second one I would probably like better in print. I think I agree about the water looking better in the first one. I don't think there's anything that really needs to be emphasized by the more silky water.
