For months, I've patiently weeded through registration requests, manually rooting out the known SPAM-bots and Honeypots and others with clear history of poor behavior and finding only the occasional legitimate registration request.
No more.
I have finally thrown in the towel and disabled the registration form.
Frankly, our membership has, I believe, peaked. I'm perfectly happy with our community and have always maintained that bigger is not better.
That stated, I am certainly open to new members joining our ranks.
So, if you come to NFf and are wondering how to register, here is the how of it.
Send an e-mail to
nelsonfotoadmin@cox.net with the following information contained therein:
Preferred username(s): Submit 3 choices, ordered by preference. There might already be a user in the system that has your
preferred username. If that is the case, I'll check the established account for activity. If the user appears to have stopped visiting/using the forum, I might just delete the old account and give the username to you. Else, I'll check your other choices, etc.
A Password: make it a
strong password. You can include caps and special characters.
Forums history (elsewhere): Your
Flickr account, another photo forums account link....something to convince me that you are indeed interested in photography and cameras and not simply after my member-list for your own gain. Your eBay profile page will work, too. Again, I want and need to know that you are genuinely interested in our community.
After providing the info above, I will create your account by hand. Once created, I will force the system to e-mail you and you may then access your account in order to authorize it, modify it, etc.
Rest assured, I will be watching your activity. If you manage to dupe me into creating your account and then proceed to modify your profile with SPAM links, and other crap, I will delete you and feed your IP, e-mail address(es), and any other information available to me to the fine folks at the various anti-SPAM sites.
Thank you for your interest in Nelson Foto Forums.
Sincerely,
CE Nelson
