Barns Avenue is a road that runs along the north side of Runway 26 of the Roanoke Regional Airport. It's a short walk from where I live, and I have driven on it many times, mostly as a respite from the four-lane madness on Peters Creek Road. It starts on the east end at airport Road, and then just kind of fades away in the west, due to the way Peters Creek Rd was expanded. Half of it is in an industrialised area, the other half is residential/commercial. Deer Branch, which empties into the infamous Tinker Creek, rolls between Barns Ave and the runway as mostly a drainage ditch, but becomes a nice little run as it passes a horse pasture.
The day was cold, about 40 degrees, and gray, but the breeze was down, and it was dry. You never know what you will find when you walk along a place that usually just zips by the windshield, and there was at least one surprise to find. At the bottom of the hill where I live, there is a frog pond that drys up when the weather patterns don't cooperate, but for now it looks like a South Carolina swamp. Enjoy the photos, and I'll leave a link to the complete set after the below sample.P1050099_2
