Barns Avenue is a road that runs along the north side of Runway 26 of the Roanoke Regional Airport.  It's a short walk from where I live, and I have driven on it many times, mostly as a respite from the four-lane madness on Peters Creek Road.  It starts on the east end at airport Road, and then just kind of fades away in the west, due to the way Peters Creek Rd was expanded.  Half of it is in an industrialised area, the other half is residential/commercial.  Deer Branch, which empties into the infamous Tinker Creek, rolls between Barns Ave and the runway as mostly a drainage ditch, but becomes a nice little run as it passes a horse pasture.

The day was cold, about 40 degrees, and gray, but the breeze was down, and it was dry.  You never know what you will find when you walk along a place that usually just zips by the windshield, and there was at least one surprise to find.  At the bottom of the hill where I live, there is a frog pond that drys up when the weather patterns don't cooperate, but for now it looks like a South Carolina swamp.  Enjoy the photos, and I'll leave a link to the complete set after the below sample.

Phil,

That's a nice series.  You've gotten some nice, subtle colors on a very gray day.  It's good to see the redbud and dogwood in bloom.   We have the former here in AZ, but I've not seen any of the latter yet.

Nice reminder of a very welcomed Spring.

Dennis, I have to work the photos a little bit to get the results I want.  The TZ-3 is a nice little Panasonic, but the output is a bit flat for my taste.  Ususally just a slight boost in contrast and saturation, and sometimes some light modifications.  I would like to replace it with a DSLR someday.

James, it may look like spring, but it sure doesn't feel like it.  Three days ago we almost hit 80, and Monday they are calling for snow.  My fingers will be happy when it stays above 50 during the day.
