Probably some sort of view camera, with 4x5 or 5x7 sheets. Studio portraits were generally done at 2 or 3 exposures per person, and sheet film was more economical back in the day. Although Aunt Margaret's may have been shot on a glass plate, judging from her outfit and hair.
