I believe I've spoken favorably of Krikor Maralian (Krimar Photo) here before.  He's outdone himself for me this time.  I sent him two Rolleiflexes that I've gotten from folks here, one an early 2.8F and the other a postwar Automat that Dan (burninfilm) gave me (!!).  Both were usable but needed some attention.  I mailed them to him last Saturday, the 10th.  He got them Monday, called me in the late afternoon but I was out.  He called again about 9 a.m. Tuesday and gave me the rundown.  He couldn't do much for the Automat except adjust the focus, which was all I wanted him to do anyway.  He did so, no charge.  The 2.8F needed more of an overhaul of the shutter and film advance, and the meter was off by several stops.  He said he couldn't repair the meter, and I told him I figured he didn't have the parts anyway.  But he called back later to say that he did have a meter cell, which was what was needed.  Great! I said.  He also had an extra lens cap for the Automat.

Today the UPS man delivered the cameras back to me.  That's five days from when I mailed them to him.  Unbelievable.  All seems great.  Obviously, I can't recommend him highly enough.

Nice, Nick!  Good for you.

I had similar experiences with Youxin Ye (he was done with the CLA and shipped back my Leica the same day he received it) and Jurgen Kreckel (he couldn't fix the Vario shutter on my Ansco Speedex so he replaced the lens/shutter entirely with a Solinar for no extra charge!).

What other types of cameras does Krikor repair?  Is he Rollei or TLR only?

Pete, that's a good question.  He worked on a Rollei 35ES for me, but otherwise I've had him work on Rollei TLRs only.  I've been to his shop and it says "camera repairs," so who knows.  Best to call him and ask.

I sent Krikor a 3.5F a couple of years ago.  He totally overhauled the shutter, which was not working, and did the usual adjustments on the rest of the camera.  From NM to NJ, time in the shop and shipping back to NM took 10 days.  It's totally unbelieveable how fast he is.

I was going to send my Automat to him, but that was before I wrecked it.  I ever get another Rollei TLR that needs work, that's where it will go.

In all the praise for the man, the contact information has been left out.  Can someone provide that, bitte?

Has anyone from outside the US sent a Rolleiflex to Krikor?  Did it work out ok?  Any cost indications?

Btw, if anyone from Australia is reading this could you chime in with any recommended Rolleiflex repairers down under.

I dug out my old one last weekend because the V700 had given such good results with shots I took on the Rollei a couple of decades ago.  I think it is a Rolleiflex 2.8D (Xenotar taking lens).  The slow speeds seem sick, and the back is a bit stiff on closing.

thanks
