These are some images that I took on the same day that I witnessed the teacher's protest march,  in and around Trafalgar Square, Charing Cross and London Victoria.  All taken with the Canon Powershot A640.

The National Gallery from Trafalgar Square with the 2012 Olympics countdown clock centre left.

The 2012 Olympics countdown clock in Trafalgar Square.

The National  Gallery - The National Portrait Gallery is just behind it - such a magnificent building just to house images of faces.....and stuff.....

This plinth always has something different on it - this time it was a child riding a rocking horse.  There's a message there somewhere, but I can't think what it is!

This is the plinth opposite the child on the rocking horse - maybe this is the message....it's George IV

These guys look out over Trafalgar Square from the steps of St Paul's church.

London's iconic telephone boxes (not called "booths") which BT want to abolish!  I'm always amazed when I come across one of these out in the countryside, miles from anywhere.

The Lamborghini showroom at London Victoria - I wonder if the guy selling "The Proletariat" newspapers (image in my set titles "Teacher's Protest")  approves?

Until I fully scrolled down to the title of the mall roof photo, it was a little bit vertigo inducing, thinking I was looking down on something.  A lovely set of photos, Graham.

Graham, all of your photos are great, I really enjoy them. You have taken us many places. Thank you.

Nice set, Graham, and a good companion to the photojournalism of the teacher's march. I've walked down that alley near Charing Cross, but can't quite place it.

Graham, these are excellent.  Of course, we receive nothing less from you.  I especially like the last two.

Graham,

My compliments on a very good set of photos.  You've chosen your subjects well, and really whet my appetite for a trip to London!   How did you manage such a terrific blue sky?  It rivals what we have here in Arizona!

My favorites are the third and the last.

Great post!

Thanks for this excellent series of central London. I second Dennis' observation about the outstanding blue sky.

That Olympic clock looks somewhat out of place in the middle of that monumental area!

Thank you all for the kind words, I'm glad that you enjoyed these.  The blue sky, and I mean wall-2-wall deep blue, has been a feature for the last week, while the gulf stream diverted to the north and left us with the highest recorded temperatures for March for twenty years, and in some cases record temperatures.  London has had +22C and +24C.  Last Wednesday it was warmer in Scotland than it was in Barbados.  Today it started to go downhill, back to +11C and next week the forecast is for another Arctic freeze of -8C!!!

This is a fine set of photos documenting an exciting place to be.  Good colors!  Those little Powershots can make powerful images.

I really like the last two in the series.

Weather's been weird here in NZ as well.  The best summer was to be had in the lower South Island and on the West Coast (again, SI) - the West Coast is usually better known for its rain!

Here we seemed to have missed summer altogether, and had 7 months of spring and only now starting to get some settled Autumn weather.
