What other events that are better for testing a camera fresh from service?
Why, an event where the ladies and lords are dressing up; where musicians and acrobats abound, of course!

So I took the Bronica S that just got serviced by Jim Richeson to the Faire...

* Nothing says Welcome! like a six-footer warrior with a great sword taller than him.

* And the Nobleman (who shoots with a DSLR)

* And the lady with her dulcimer.  After hearing her, I *want* to learn to play that thing, the sound is so pure.

* And the Gypsy and the Gaja who discussed the grave matter of: "How to get along with each other" with my daughter and friend (second and fourth grader respectively).

* And then there is the Writer

* And then of course, the Painter

And the faire continueth...
while I noticed that the Bronica is
... even smoother than before
... and it doesn't have any more light-leaks
... and it back-focus' no more!
Yay!

Very nice!

On my monitor, the photos are very warm tone.  Was it the film/developer combo, just the scanning or tweak in PS?  Whatever, it works.

That's some good shooting, Will.  I like these kind of people shots, especially where people are occupied with
their craft, (or role).  Gosh, the guy in the first photo is a magnificent and fearsome looking chap!
Well done on all of them.

Now looking at these on a different computer, they are no longer warm tone.  Amazing how one monitor differs from another.  Still looks good.

The "lady with her dulcimer" is great.

Funny how none of these people get right into it - I mean, they could all at least contract one of those nasty diseases of yore, to make it really real  :p

Thank you all for the comments.

Brian, I tone these photos with a bit of sepia in Darktable, just to make it less grey.  When I get my darkroom setup again, I will use a warm-tone paper.

Phil, it's like getting my Hassy back Smiley sans the cost, actually the Nikkor is no slouch even compared to the Planar and it's a teensy-bit wider.  I may now look for the other Nikkor or Komura for the Bronica.

Dean, these folks are serious in their role-playing. And since I'm a nerd/geek also, I can relate.  In some ways, we photographers are also rather odd from the perspective of most others, maybe.  The fearsome guy turned out to be quite funny also, he played on one of the many stages later on.

Paul, the name of the game is fun.  And diseases ain't no fun. Smiley

Kalle, ... tsk, tsk..

I'm on the board of directors of the YMCA summer camp that I went to when I was a kid.  The camp is open to other groups throughout the year; there are medieval reenactors who come several times a year.  They are indeed pretty serious about this stuff.

I echo others' comments -- lovely pictures!

Great shots Will! You did a fine job capturing the feel of the faire. These sort of things always seem to be a good place for shooting, everyone dressed up and happy to show off their efforts.

Well done, Will. Love that first one and the dulcimer, especially.

oh how iv'e been tempted to some Monty Python in this.....

the dulcimer is a cool instrument.i was at a seissun in a local Irish Pub and there apart from usual Fiddle and whistles, my pipes and low whistle, three guys playing Hammer dulcimer.lovely sound not dissimilar to welsh triple harp. blended really nice with pipes and fiddle. up until then i had not played together with a dulcimer player, let alone 3 in the one night.
